Hypnotic ways of dealing with pain or discomfort
The reaction that people often have towards pain, especially pain which seems unbearable is, they tell (sometimes yell) themselves that they “have got to” deal with the pain.
It often becomes a case of “fight or flight”, almost like a panic.
There are many different techniques for pain relief that I have come across and practiced and some of them work better than others. Some of these were remedies, EFT tapping techniques as well as deep breathing techniques and others.
In this blog, I will teach you a technique which is probably one of the most powerful pain relief techniques I know of when applied and practiced.
Here is the technique…
I would like you to consider this….
As you are sitting and reading this, I’d like you to begin by becoming aware of any noises that are around you…
Starting by paying attention to noises that are close by.. and then going further and further in to the distance.
As you continue to read this you can also become aware of what else you can see around your peripheral, you can probably be aware of the color(s) of the walls around you and possibly some other items too which are in the room
It is also interesting that, as you continue to read and also notice the sounds you hear (possibly a clock ticking..)and what you can also see while you are continuing to read..
You can also become aware of your body's physical sensations, such as your toes on your right foot and then also your left foot too.
As you continue to read this with interest and wonder about this exercise and its possible effect on relieving pain, it would be nice to become aware that there are certain parts of your body right now that feel somewhat more comfortable than other parts of your body.
You can also be curious about the different sensations in your body and how one arm (I don't know which) seems heavier than the other arm..
Now, you can also notice your breathing rate and its heaviness etc..,
As you take that relaxing deep breath …..... it is kind of interesting to also begin to notice the blinking rate of your eyes as they may be slowing down and becoming more relaxed with a certain feeling of comfortable heaviness.
As you carry on reading you will probably have noticed that your thoughts in your head have become somewhat quieter and more peaceful and that things which may have bothered you before …although they may still be there but right now you’re somehow more comfortable with them.
The point is, when one connects with oneself deeper, one can also begin to become more at peace and at ease inside and that automatically allows the body to relax more and feel greater comfort.
Instead of trying to push the pain away, you can allow yourself to become more aware of other sensation in your body as well as around you that is going on at the same time, this creates an altered state in which the pain lessens and feels more manageable now.
